About Us

Hi! We're glad that you came to see who we are.

John started out with 2 hives of bees when he was in the 5th grade. The bees did well and by the time I met him in 1984 he was working with 25 hives. The night we moved bees "in" for the winter he asked me to marry him. (I said yes) He told me afterwards that he WAS going to ask me earlier in the day when we were carrying a hive of bees over the electric fence, but decided he didn't want me dropping the bees.

As the bees did well, John expanded his operation each year. At present John runs 450 hives. John does all the bee work while my time is spent bottling and delivering honey. Besides the honey, the bees produce a lot of beeswax. I personally got tired of going into craft stores where they were selling dark beeswax for $12.00 a pound. So......a new adventure with learning about computers, and marketing on the internet began. With help from several wonderful individuals (thanks Penny, Susan, and April) we have been able to get the site up and running.

Our goal is to provide the individual crafter with high quality 100% beeswax at a reasonable cost. Our biggest challenge has been keeping the cost of shipping at a minimum. We are also open to selling our beeswax in larger quantities to business' that would retail the smaller quantities. If interested in such, let us know.

I have thoroughly enjoyed making beeswax ornaments. I have experimented with making candles, but have found that making high quality candles is an art in itself---it is much more than putting a wick in a mold and pouring the beeswax in. I am leaving the majority of the candle making to the candle makers, check out the links page for their products. There are a few of what I call "decorative candles" that I have for sale - simply because I enjoy the design and the aroma of the beeswax.

We have 3 children, ages 20, 18, and 17. All 3 work very hard in the fall helping John extract the honey from the comb.
